'Your words didn't hurt me' Woman's brilliant comeback to 'sniggering' shop assistants goes viral
You will love Harriet Rae's response to the cruel shop workers...
When Harriet Rae popped to the shops, the last thing she expected was to witness two sales assistants having a laugh at her expense.
But when she overheard the shop workers, at the Superdrug store in Truro, commenting on her appearance and the shorts she was wearing, and giggling to each other, she wasn't prepared to ignore it!
Harriet, who lives in Perranporth, Cornwall, took to Facebook to share her story, and how instead of letting the cruel comments affect her, she flashed a 'massive cheesy smile' in defiance.
Addressing her post 'To the two girls working in Truro Superdrug this afternoon', she goes on to say how she heard their comments on her appearance and shorts as they 'spoke loud enough for most people to hear', and remarked that it probably wasn't the first time they'd shamed another girl:
'Its obviously not the first time you've had a giggle and a made comments about another girl but when you do it normally, the person you talk about probably looks away and you actually make them feel really sad inside.'
Harriet, determined not to let the situation upset her, instead responded with a smile. Commenting on how damaging such experiences can be for girls who don't have such a thick skin, she said: 'Just so you know, your words didn't hurt me. The looks you gave me did not either.
'I do feel slightly saddened that you think it's ok to speak about another female, or in fact anyone, in that way. I don't believe you gained anything from it apart from looking a little bit silly when you realised I heard you.

'If somehow you end up reading this, as Cornwall is a very small place, can you be a little bit kinder with your words? Some peoples skin isn't as thick as mine has become and the next persons might be very thin indeed. So in response to your comments, I send back some love!'

Harriet's post has since gone viral, with over 47,000 shares, 150 likes and 63 comments. It even reached the attention of Superdrug, who contacted Harriet to apologise. Updating her original post, she said: 'I have spoken to the lovely people at Superdrug Head Office today (25.7.16), who apologised for what happened
'I re-enforced that the intended message of the post was to spread kindness and positivity not embarrassment or hurt. They understood and accepted that I didn't want to give a description of the people or my location in the store when it happened.
'They have also said that my post will be used in training in the future to make sure it doesn't happen again.'
