Amanda Holden recalls moment her husband almost died while chocking
Amanda Holden has revealed her husband Chris Hughes almost died after choking on a piece of pasta, but was saved by an unexpected Hollywood star.
The 48-year-old Britain’s Got Talent judge and record producer husband Chris were holidaying in Los Angeles when the scary incident occurred.
Chris was dining at a classic Italian food restaurant, when a piece of pasta lodged in his throat and he turned blue.
Thankfully, Chris was saved by a passer-by who turned out to be Hollywood actor, Thomas Haden Church, who has previously starred in Spider-Man 3, Sideways and 90s TV show Wings.
Explaining the incident on her Heart Breakfast show, Amanda said: ‘I have to say, he [Thomas] is also the saviour of my husband’s life. And that’s no word of a lie.
‘We were on holiday in America and Chris had to have a lunch with an American comedian and I was back at the hotel with the kids.
'And I did keep looking at my watch thinking, "Oh, brilliant, this is going really well for him he’s been absolutely ages".

‘But actually what happened was, as he was eating pasta he got a bit lodged in his throat, thought "Oh, OK I’ll have a bit of Diet Coke or whatever to swish it down."’
She continued: ‘It expanded and he was doing that British thing of carrying on and making eye contact with this American comedian.
‘And he completely went blue, could not breathe.
‘And out of nowhere this man came and did the Heimlich manoeuvre on him and he threw up all over the table.
He turned round and Chris saw Thomas Haden Church. The guy was like “are you okay?” Chris just goes “yeah, I loved you in Sideways”.’
Amanda often shares family stories on her Heart FM Breakfast show alongside presenter Jamie Theakston.
Just last month, Amanda revealed the hilarious news that she has been banned from attending her eldest daughter's, Alexa, sports day as she is far too competitive.
And, the gorgeous mum-of-two admitted when she was in labour with Alexa , who is now 13-years-old, she delivered her while dolled up with a full face of makeup, and even wanted to sport a killer pair of heels.
Amanda and Chris tied the knot in December 2008, after meeting in Los Angles in 2003.
The pair have two daughters together, Hollie Rose, born in 2012, and Alexa Louise Florence born in 2006.
