Laurence Fishburne and Gina Torres confirm split after 14 years of marriage

‘There are no bad guys here’

Hollywood star Laurence Fishburne and his wife Gina Torres have confirmed their split after 14 years of marriage.

Suits actress Gina, who would have celebrated her 15th anniversary with The Matrix star Laurence this month, confirmed the sad news to People magazine in a statement, saying: 'With heavy hearts, Laurence and I quietly separated and began the dissolution of our marriage in the early fall of last year.'

'There are no bad guys here. Only a love story with a different ending than either one of us had expected.'

The amicable exes, who share daughter Delilah, 10, are committed to effectively co-parenting together.

'Happily, our family remains intact and we will continue to raise our daughter with love and joy and awe,' the statement continued.

'As well as raise each other up with respect and love and the continued understanding that we're in this together, if not side by side.'

The couple did not indicate whether they had filed for divorce or planned to anytime soon.

Rumours about difficulties in the couple's marriage first started circulating when Gina quit show Suits - where she worked alongside Prince Harry's girlfriend Meghan Markle - in September 2016.

Speaking to The New York Times, she explained had decided to leave the network drama because her 'personal life needed to be tended to.'

'I think the public doesn't understand the rigors of shooting a show for an actor, much less when you're on location and away from home,' she told the publication.

'It's not that I don't love the show and love Jessica [Pearson, her character], who is my alter ego. But my life is my life and I need to take care of it. And everyone was really supportive.'

Laurence and Gina tied the knot in 2002 in a ceremony held at the Cloisters in Upper Manhattan.

Laurence, who is also known for his roles in Apocalypse Now, Batman vs Superman and Mystic River, was previously married to Hajna O. Moss from 1985 to 1990, with whom he has two grown-up children, Langston and Montana.
