Kevin and Karen Clifton confirm divorce after three years of marriage

They confirmed the news this morning

Kevin and Karen Clifton have confirmed they are divorcing after three years of marriage.

The pair confirmed they are getting a divorce during an interview on Chris Evans' Radio 2 breakfast show this morning, saying that they are no longer together 'privately', but remain together 'professionally'.

Kevin said: 'Privately we are not together any more but professionally we are stronger than ever before.

'Dance is how we came together and is what glues us together.'

The dancer also said the two remain friends, as well as professional colleagues: 'We're still the best of friends - we still have a lot of love and respect for each other.

'What we've found is that since we've been honest with each other it's unlocked our creativity.'

Karen also spoke of the split, adding that they're feeling 'very positive'.

The pair were married for three years

'We have such strong chemistry and it's about entertaining and inspiring. At the end of the day it's about giving back to fans. We're feeling very positive', she said.

Kevin and Karen tied the knot in July 2015, and rumours about their split surfaced back in November.

After being voted off Strictly last year, Kevin thanked Karen for 'putting up' with him, and admitted he's not 'the easiest person to live with' when he's busy with the BBC hit show.

'When Strictly is on I'm not the easiest person to live with, I go a bit mad so I'd like to say first of all thanks to my wife for putting up with me', he said on TV.

Karen later confessed that their relationship had its up and downs.

'We're just a regular couple, we've been together for seven years and like any other relationship you have your ups and downs and nothing is ever perfect so you make it work', she told The Sun.

The two initially met as dancers on on stage show Burn The Floor, and tied the knot in 2015.

Despite their split, they also announced they are set to tour the UK together this year.
