Jada Pinkett Smith reveals she never wanted to marry Will Smith
Jada Pinkett Smith has revealed that she never wanted to marry husband Will Smith in a very candid conversation about their relationship.
The couple have been married for 21 years, after Jada married her actor husband Will in 1997 when she was three months pregnant with their eldest child Jaden, who previously asked for emancipation.
Speaking on her Facebook Watch series, Red Table Talk, the Hollywood actress spoke about her marriage to the actor and Grammy winner, who no longer says he and Jada are married, confessing that at the time she wasn’t ready to walk down the aisle.
‘I was under so much pressure being a young actress,’ Jada said. ‘Being young, pregnant, I was just like, I didn’t know what to do. But I knew I never wanted to be married.’
The mum-of-two went on to confess that she was so upset about the wedding that she even cried as she walked down the aisle.
‘My first trimester was horrible,’ she said. ‘And I was so upset that I had to have a wedding. I was so p***ed. I went crying down the freaking aisle, I cried the whole way down the aisle.’

The Bad Moms actress then spoke about how she doesn’t agree with the rules and ideas of marriage.
‘I just never really agreed with the construct [of marriage]. I just don’t agree with it. I still don’t. Til death do us part is real for me, but all of the rules and all of the ideas. This title ‘wife,’ the accepted conventional definition of wife in the paradigm - I’m not that’, she said.
Jada’s mum, who appeared on the Red Table Talk show with her daughter, continued the conversation, admitting that she put pressure on the Girls Trip star to get married at the time.
‘I’m sorry that I didn’t respect your wishes,’ said Adrienne, Jada’s mum.
‘It was totally a selfish. It was, “I’ll never have that experience of my daughter getting married,” because you were my only child. The wedding was horrible. Jada was sick, she was very unpleasant. She didn’t cooperate with anything. She was having all that morning sickness.’
