McFly Unsaid Things - review
Danny, Tom, Dougie and Harry share their story of rising to fame, dinners with Elton John and dealing with depression - but is it worth a read?
What's it about? The McFly boys have had to grow up in the spotlight since they shot to fame in 2004 with their single '5 Colours in her Hair'. And Tom, Danny, Dougie and Harry certainly have an interesting story to tell. Fast-forward 8 years and Tom is married, Harry won Strictly, Dougie won I'm a Celeb, they have 7 number 1 singles and they're showing no signs of slowing down.
Touching on their childhoods, family lives and relationships, this book tells stories of number 1s, tours and travelling, dinners with Elton John, making a film with Lindsay Lohan and loads more. But there's a darker side too - Dougie gives a very honest account of his battle with alcoholism and a suicide attempt, while Tom talks of his feelings of depression.
goodtoknow says: It's an entertaining and easy read and the way it's written (with the band members taking it in turns to tell the story) works really well. They're not the most rock and roll band, so it's not just a show-off tale of sex and drugs (although there is a bit of that thrown in for good measure) and it made us smile a lot - especially the pictures of them as kids! If you're a McFly fan you'll love it.
