Our herby smoked mackerel pate is a delicious, fresh twist on the classic smoked mackerel pate you might have tried before. It’ is truly bursting with flavour! Not only does our herby smoked mackerel pate taste amazing, it’s good for you too and helps you get all your essential omegas in! It’s only 126 calories per portion and has just 5g of saturated fat. Serve the herby smoked mackerel pate with toasted pitta bread, on top of crostini or with a selection of raw vegetables to dip in. We like carrots, peppers, cucumber and radishes. One of the best things about this pate recipe is that it can be prepared ahead of time and kept in the fridge for a couple of days. It makes a great addition to any summer picnic spreads, birthday buffets or even just as a snack to share with friends. Ingredients
- 240g packet peppered smoked mackerel
- 250g cream cheese
- 2 lemons, both zest and juice
- small bunch parsley and chives, roughly chopped
- 2tsp horseradish cream
- ½ a small red onion
- 2tbsp capers
- toasted pita breads, to serve
- lemon wedges, to serve
WEIGHT CONVERTER
Method
- Pulse all the ingredients (except the pita breads and lemon wedges) in a food processor until everything has come together, but there is still some texture. You may need to scrape the sides a couple of times, to get all the chives incorporated.
- Check the seasoning and adjust to taste.
- Serve with freshly squeezed lemon, extra pepper, red onion slices and toasted pita breads, if liked.
