Homemade orange rosé wine, also known as vin d'oranges, is easy to make with fruity wine, Seville oranges, vodka and brandy and would make a lovely foodie gift in bottles tied with ribbons. Seville oranges are only in season for a short time and are more commonly used to make marmalade. It's simple to make a month ahead of when you need it then crack it open with friends. After a month, decant the vin d’oranges into pretty bottles and serve chilled. Cheers!

Method

  1. Pour the wine, vodka and brandy into a large (3 litre) sterilised kilner jar. Split the vanilla pod in half and add to the jar with the cinnamon and sugar. Seal the jar securely and give it a good shake to dissolve the sugar into the alcohol.
  2. Wash the oranges and the lemon and pat dry on kitchen paper. Cut the fruit in half and then into 5mm thick slices. Add the sliced oranges and lemon to the jar, seal and shake again.
  3. Leave the vin d’oranges in the fridge for about 1 month, giving it a good shake every now and then. Strain, decant into pretty sterilised bottles and label.
