Why buy ready-made stewed apple sauce when it's so easy and so much tastier to make your own? Try apple sauce with your roast pork.
Ingredients
- 4 large Bramley apples, peeled and chopped
- 25g (1oz) salted butter
- ½tsp cinnamon
- 50g (2oz) light brown sugar
- 100ml (3½ fl oz) cider
WEIGHT CONVERTER
Method
- Put the apples in a roasting tin with the rest of the ingredients and mix well.
- Bake at 170°C/325°F/gas mark 3 for 25 mins until the apple is tender: it will look more of a caramel colour than bought apple sauce. Mash with a fork and serve.
Top Tip for making Baked apple sauce
Don't just serve it up with pork dishes. This sauce tastes great with ice cream or puddings, too.
