Papa John's releases a Hot Dog pizza featuring Heinz sauces

Will you be trying this?

Takeaway giant Papa John’s has released a new pizza featuring Heinz's iconic tomato ketchup base.

This interesting base will come as standard on their new Hot Dog pizza which comes covered with frankfurter slices, onions, mozzarella and streaks of Heinz’s mustard.

Deciding between a hot dog and a pizza can be difficult, because they’re both so delicious. If you’re struggling to choose between hot dogs or pizza for dinner this summer, Papa John’s are giving you the best of both worlds!

There’s even a vegan option, featuring meat-free sausage and dairy-free cheese, but still keeping both of Heinz’s classic sauces for that authentic hot dog taste.

Interestingly the vegan option contains more calories than its meaty counterpart - one slice of the vegan option is 203 calories, whereas the meat one is 187 calories.

If you want to get your hands on this, it’ll cost you £12.49 for a small, £14.49 for a medium, £17.49 for a large, and £22.99 for an extra large - slightly more expensive than others on the menu.

It’s available for delivery or collection from today until July 14th, making it the perfect summer comfort food. However, if it proves to be popular amongst customers, the chain might look into extending it.

Papa John’s is no stranger to creating ‘weird’ pizzas, with the chain releasing a Marmite crust earlier this year. The famous yeast extract has divided food lovers for years, and is possibly one of the most acquired tastes out there.

Whilst this Hot Dog pizza isn’t as controversial, we’re not sure how we feel about it just yet. Will it taste just as good as a hot dog like the chain suggested? We’ll find out soon enough.
