Marks & Spencer are launching an online food delivery service

Hooray!

British retailer Marks and Spencer has announced they will be launching an online food delivery service, starting with a soft trial in two of their locations.

The supermarket bosses have finally decided to answer our prayers and offer us yet another way to get delicious food in our doorstep with minimum effort.

According to The Guardian, Marks & Spencer have launched trials in London and Woodley, near Reading, to test the service, before deciding if they will roll it out nationwide.

At its Camden store in north London, shoppers can get their food delivered within one and two-hour slots within a three-mile radius, while the Reading location has a collection-only service with a two-hour turnaround.

The food available to order at the click of a button is quite limited but includes all the favourites - you can choose from a range of ready meals like Thai green curry and pizzas that will be delivered to your house within one hour.

If customers want to add groceries like bread and milk to their order, delivery time increases to two hours.

Unlike other companies who provide a similar service, M&S food delivery service will be free, but under a few conditions.

During the trial, M&S shoppers wanting to get their food delivered will need to be a member of the M&S Sparks loyalty scheme and also spend a minimum of £10 on their order.

Speaking about the new service, an M&S spokesman said: 'We have started two small food online trials with selected Sparks members as we explore what works for our customers.'

The trial was first announced in April, when the company revealed they were considering doing a 'soft trial in the autumn', the Guardian reported at the time.
