Lidl has released a new gingerbread gin for all your Christmas drinks
Lidl has released a new gingerbread gin for all your Christmas drinks and we can't wait to try it...
Christmas comes with a host of sweet and delicious flavours that we wait for all year round - mint chocolate, black forest, toffee nut, chocolate orange...
Year on year we wait for coffee shops to release their Christmas drinks menus so that we can get a taste of these classic flavours.
And now supermarkets are taking the festive tastes from caffeine to alcohol by infusing them into spirits for us to enjoy at Christmas.
Budget store Lidl has taken the traditional gingerbread man flavour and mixed it into their new Ginger Spiced Liqueur.
Combining spicy ginger and sweet cinnamon, the blend is the latest addition to the popular store’s well-know Hortus gin range.
Lidl’s Spirits expert, Tristan Stephenson, recommends mixing it into a cocktail for a spiced winter cocktail.

‘Combine the gingerbread liqueur, coffee [15ml espresso] and [single] cream in a cocktail shaker along with plenty of ice’, says Tristan.
'Shake together, and then strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a dusting of cocoa powder and serve immediately.'
This latest release comes only a month after Lidl launched a spiced plum and cinnamon gin liqueur said to emulate the flavours of mulled wine for a lighter version of the classic winter toddy.
‘In the last 12 months our premium Hortus Gin Liqueurs have continued to grow in popularity,’ said Paul McQuade, Lidl’s Head of Buying for Spirits.
‘We have expanded the Hortus range, offering our customers a wide range of new and exciting Gins and Gin Liqueurs.
‘The premium Hortus Spiced Plum and Cinnamon Gin Liqueur is perfect for the winter season, especially when served hot.’
For those with a sweet tooth, budget supermarket Aldi recently released a gin liqueur infused with salted caramel.
Their Salted Caramel and Baked Apple Gin Liqueur blends two classic yuletide flavours to form a sugary spirit that you can enjoy on its own or mixed into a cocktail.
Or if you can’t choose between an after-dinner tipple or a dessert, pour a shot of this sweet blend over ice cream for a proper grown-up pud!
