Greggs confirms that they're trialling a home delivery service (and it could soon roll out across the country!)
For those days when only a sausage roll will do
Greggs delivery service might soon be a reality, as the bakery chain has announced that they are currently trialling it in Newcastle.
Some days all you want are some sausage rolls and donuts delivered to your door, without having to even get out of your pjs.
And now we're finally one step closer to that happening, after Greggs announced they started trialling a new delivery service in Newcastle.
The pastry masters revealed their new delivery service is being done in partnership with Uber Eats, which currently operates in 35 cities in the UK, including Bath, Birmingham, Manchester, London and York.
The service will be rolled out to all cities where Uber Eats operates if successful, which is highly likely if we consider their drive-thrus.
The company announced in August they are rolling out drive-thrus across the UK after a trial in Manchester proved very successful (and left us seriously considering moving up north).
Greggs' chief executive Roger Whiteside told Newcastle Chronicle at the time: 'We opened our first 'Drive-Thru' shop at Irlam, Greater Manchester, in June and have been encouraged by its popularity, indicating a demand for further drive-thru locations.'

Greggs' sausage rolls could soon be one click away...
'We are very excited by it; it's got off to a flying start. It's been interesting and exciting to see how well customers have taken to it. Customers are very taken by the idea of not having to leave their cars.'
But Greggs aren't the only fast-food chain delivering to your door. McDonald's also launched their own delivery service with Uber Eats earlier this year, which is currently available in cities and costs £2.50 on top of your food bill.
Given that Greggs are partnering up with the same company, it's likely their delivery will also incur a £2.5 charge - the small price to pay for home delivered donuts.
While the news of a delivery service might be making a lot of Greggs' fans very happy, the company caused outrage earlier this week when it was revealed they increased the price of their famous sausage rolls.
The increase of 5p means customers now pay 90p instead of 85p for the pastry snack, which left customers 'disappointed'.
