Aldi is now selling orange wine and it's everything you need for summer evenings
Red wine for winter nights, white wine for sunny days and rosé wine for balmy evenings.
But what about those days when you want something richer than white and rosé wine, but it’s not quite cold enough to get away with red wine?
We can always rely on bargain supermarket Aldi to be on hand with an answer to life’s little problems. And of course they have a solution for this boozy conundrum.
The high-street favourite has launched a new orange wine.
Yes, you read that right. Orange wine has been around for years, but until now has only been available at high-end wine merchants and swanky wine bars.
Now, the geniuses at Aldi have managed to get their hands on it to share with all of us mere mortals who don’t frequent the Ritz on a regular basis.
Launching as part of the store’s August Wine Festival, Aldi’s Orange Natural Wine combines the weight of red wine with the freshness of white wine.

Blended with 85 per cent Chardonnay and 15 per cent Sauvignon Blanc, it tastes of candied apricots, vanilla and peaches. Not an orange in sight.
Contrary to what its appearance leads you to believe, this wine steers well clear of citrusy flavours. It actually gets its colours from its fermentation process.
By leaving the grape skins and seeds in contact with the pressed juice, the wine is able to develop its deep orange-hued colour.
It comes in at only £5.99, which is a bargain compared to other orange wine on the market. London restaurant Ottolenghi has a bottle on offer for nearly £30, so compared to that this one is peanuts.
It’s suitable for vegans too with no additives or additional yeasts. Aldi’s wine expert suggests pairing it with spicy oriental dishes, such as a Thai Green Curry or just enjoying it on its own as an aperitif.
The wine is available in stores and online from 9th August, so fill your baskets.
