As a full-time parent, this 33-year-old from Bristol is a self-taught baker, and has improved her skills with the help of YouTube tutorials like a true millennial. Puff pastry is one of her specialities - which always goes down well with her husband and daughter - but she's also baked several wedding cakes and stunning, intricately decorated novelty cakes for friends and family.

Dan, another full-time parent from London, describes himself as a perfectionist and says aesthetics is one of the most important aspects of his bakes - so we can probably expect some great showstoppers from him! The 36-year-old has been a stay-at-home dad for the past few years and says he sees baking as a means to create family memories, as well as family mealtimes. But after six years of looking after two small children, he says he's ready to 'rejoin the world of adults' as his eldest starts school.

The Northern Irish 33-year-old, from County Tyrone, learned to cook and bake from her mother, in their family home. She likes to spend evenings, after leaving her job as a Countryside recreation officer, and weekends making soda breads, biscuits and treats for her father and her son, as well as her aunts, uncles and cousins who are always around. She also enjoys taking cakes into work for her colleagues - we bet they'll miss her treats now!

Karen, from West Yorkshire, baked with her mum since she was little but it was the 15 years during which she owned a house with her husband in France that inspired her even more - particularly the local French patisserie. The 60-year-old, who works as an in-store sampling assistant, can now whip up profiteroles, Religieuse buns, tartes au citron, and even foot long eclairs... Yum!

The 27-year-old, from Leeds, was born in Belgium to an English father and Malaysian–Chinese mother, and is sure that the fact that she was born on World Baking Day was a sign that she was going to be a baker. The mental health specialist grew up in London, and says that while she loves everything from rustic baking to creating cute bakes, her main passion is bread.

The 30-year-old from Sheffield, who's a civil servant by day and a techno DJ by night, says some of his earliest memories are baking with his Nan, standing on on a mini step ladder so that he could reach the worktop. He started baking on his own when he was 10, making Victoria sponges, fruit cobblers and chocolate cake, and never stopped.

The 29-year-old project manager from London started to love baking after becoming everyone's 'mother' at university - having taken seven male housemates under her wing, she became a pro while cooking and baking for them and it's probably the reason she describes her baking style as 'pretty relaxed' and 'boozy'. During her childhood, growing up as part of an Indian family, she remembers her mum making Jalebi’s, an Indian sweet, and now she loves gather friends and family together to indulge in her cakes and pastries.
