'They want the glitter bright pink ones' Zoe Saldana explains why she buys her sons clothes from the girls' section
'We will never choose things for them because of their gender'
Zoe Salanda has opened up about her choice to dress her three sons in clothes from the girls' section.
Speaking to Refinery 29, Zoe, who is mum to twins Cy and Bowie, two, and two-month-old Zen with husband Marco Perego, said that she would never choose items for her children based on their gender.
'We choose it [clothes] because they need pants, they need shirts, and things like that,' she explained. 'But if they have a preference of a color or a shape or a person or an animal or a story, we will never choose things for them because of their gender.'
'We are very open, so open in fact, that sometimes people mistake them [her sons] for girls because we dress them quite colourfully.'
In an interview with PEOPLE magazine earlier this month, the 38-year-old said she often simply lets her older boys choose the outfits or items that they like, regardless of what section they're assigned to in stores.
'Their input has begun with their shoes. They just choose what they want to wear,' she said at the Victoria Beckham for Target Launch party in Bel Air.
'So they have different pairs of glittery, bright pink trainers, and those are the shoes that they always choose. We get them their masculine ones. They don't like those. They want the glitter, the glitter bright pink ones, and we're like, so be it.'

She added that Marco was equally supportive of giving their children free reign with their choices: 'My husband and I, we don't like to just stick to like the boys' section. And we like putting leggings on our sons, believe it or not.'
'Sometimes when we can't find something that we need, we'll go to the girls' section, and we like seeing our kids, our boys, in pastel, bright pink colors, and they like it as well.'
