Why Meghan and Harry's children will not have the same surname as Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis
George, Charlotte and Louis would probably love if uncle Harry and auntie Meghan had children so they can have more cousins to play with, but turns out they will not be sharing the same surname...
It's been less than three months since Harry and Meghan tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony at Windsor castle, and ever since then fans have been eagerly speculating about the couple's future children.
They've both openly discussed their wish to have a family, and we bet they're already getting a lot of practice with Wills and Kate's three children.
But while George, Charlotte and Louis will certainly have a lot in common with their future cousins, it turns out they won't share the same surname despite their dads being brothers.
While the official website for the royal family states that the Queen's descendants will carry the name of Mountbatten-Windsor, a combination of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip’s names, it also says that those who have the title of Royal Highness or Prince, Princess can carry another name.
The royal family’s official website states: 'The Queen's descendants, other than those with the style of Royal Highness and the title of Prince/Princess, or female descendants who marry, would carry the name of Mountbatten-Windsor.'

For instance, it's been reported that both William and Harry decided to use the surname Wales, which is Charles title, when they enrolled in the RAF, instead of the family name of Mountbatten-Windsor.
Kate and William's official titles are Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, which they seem to be passing on to their children as it was reported last week that George is known as George Cambridge at school.
As Harry and Meghan were given the official titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex when they got married, it is likely their children will carry the name Sussex, which means they won't share the same surname as their cousins.
While there's no baby news for the couple just yet, Harry said in their first interview after they announced their engagement: 'Of course. You know, one step at a time. Hopefully we’ll start a family in the near future.'
