Pretty hexagonal storage boxes

These pretty little hexagonal boxes are ideal to make if you want storage that doesn't suffer from being too plain.

If you want a speedy craft project to do over a weekend then these pretty little hexagonal boxes are ideal to make. They're a perfect storage solution that don't suffer from being too plain - so let your imagination run wild!

All you need to make this craft is some plain hexagon boxes, which you can either make yourself with a little paper mache or you can pick some up from your nearest craft shop. Then you can have fun choosing the patterned paper to fit inside the base of each box - Oliver Bonas do a really varied range of kitsch wrapping paper.

The storage boxes can be placed anywhere around your home but they probably can't take the weight of tins, so are more suited to a hallway, bedroom or living room to store little knick knacks.

You will need:

  • Paper mache hexagon boxes
  • Yellow, pink, blue and pale grey paint
  • Copper metalic paint
  • Paint brush
  • Scrapbook papers
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Step 1

Coat the outside of the box with yellow paint and leave to dry - if you do two layers the colour will be more vibrant. Repeat with the other boxes in pink, blue and grey paints.

Step 2

To make these boxes look more pricey than they are, paint the insides with a copper metalic and leave to dry.

Step 3

Finally to get the paper for the inside of the box the right size, simply place the box onto scrapbook paper and draw around. Cut out, fit the paper inside the base of the box to check it's snug, glue the back and stick in place. Repeat with other boxes using different patterned paper.
