Try your hand at paper craft with these pretty kite cards. They're perfect for any special occasion, and once you've got the hang of them you can put anything you want on the front! Our Gemma Chandler shows you how...
When it comes to choosing the right card for your loved ones, adding a personal touch is definitely the way forward. We love these kite-themed cards which make for a great birthday card but also a pretty invite to a summer party. Not only does it show how much thought you've put in, but it's also much cheaper than forking out for one from your local card shop. All you'll need are some templates, string, paper and tape!
Once you've mastered the kite theme, why not move onto hot air balloons, or aeroplanes? The sky is the limit!

You will need:
- Kite & clouds templates (download here)
- Origami paper

- Pencil
- Scissors
- String
- Glue
- Craft masking tape
- White paper
- A4 Pale blue card
Step 1
Using the templates, draw and cut out 2 paper kites, measuring 6cm and 7cm in length. Lightly fold the kites from opposite corner to corner to create creases.
Step 2
Cut 2 lengths of string measuring 10cm and glue to the backs of the paper kites. Stick 3 strips of craft tape to each length of string and snip into bow tie shapes.
Step 3
Fold a sheet of A4 pale blue card in half. Using the template draw and cut out 3 white paper clouds measuring 6cm in length. Stick the clouds to the front of the folded card. Place the kites on top, and stick in place.
