Seth Meyers shares dramatic details of his second son's birth in the lobby of his apartment building

Seth Meyers has confirmed that he’s become a dad for the second time - and his baby's birth was more than a little dramatic!

The American talk show host revealed that his wife Alexi Ashe gave birth to a little boy in the lobby of their apartment building on TV last night.

‘I called 911 and over the course of a minute conversation, I said, “We’re about to have a baby — we’re having a baby — we had a baby”,’ the new father gushed a day after the tiny tot arrived.

Seth went on to tell the crowd a few more details about the dramatic events that unfolded during the baby’s first few moments in the world on 8 April.

He explained to the audience that he had help cutting Axel Strahl’s umbilical cord from members of the New York Police Department who turned up at the property as his second son arrived.

Seth also revealed that a number of kind neighbours provided support in the family’s time of need by ensuring the newborn was kept warm in towels until more help arrived.

Clearly moved by the whole situation, Seth became noticeably teary during the broadcast.

‘I’m getting choked up thinking about how brave I was,’ he joked in an attempt to distract the crowd from his emotions.

Although Seth is yet to make a further comment about the happy news on Instagram or Twitter, a number of viewers sent well-wishes to the 44-year-old and his wife.

‘Congratulations @sethmeyers for your baby Axel,’ said one. ‘What a wonderful way to come into the world.’

Another added: ‘Congratulations to you and your wife on the birth of Axel - which is also the name of my adorable oldest grandson! Your retelling of his birth was very funny and very sweet.’

‘Hope your apartment complex doesn’t charge you for the mess on the lobby floor,’ a third admirer couldn’t resist joking.

Seth and attorney Alexi tied the knot on 1 September 2013, five years after they started dating. The duo’s first child, a boy named Ashe Olsen, was born at Lenox Hill Hospital on 27 March 2016.
