'Would do it forever if I could' Stacey Solmon reveals her sons have stopped sharing her bed after nine years

'I can't help but feel a little sad that that's probably the first day of the rest of my child free bed time life'

Stacey Solomon has moved her two young sons out of her bed for their first night sleeping alone.

Taking to Instagram to share a photo of their stylish new bunk beds, complete with Lego brick design and a slide, Stacey penned an emotional caption where she mourned the loss of having her two boys, aged five and nine, share her space during the night.

'So, last night I spent the first night without my children coming in to my room and sleeping with me in 9 years,' she wrote. 'I'm sure a lot of people will have something to say about that but I honestly don't care. I love sleeping with my children and would do it forever if I could.'

'Those cuddles, the kick in the face, the kisses in the morning. I live for that.'

'However I have come to the realisation that as much as I love it, I also value my sleep,' she continued, 'and I know that with extra special people coming into my life there simply isn't enough room for us all and everybody benefits from a good nights sleep.'

Explaining that she had been 'daunted' by the change, but surprised when the boys seemed really excited to go to bed that night, she said: 'I assumed the novelty would wear off and they'd wake up in the night and come in but, I woke up to an empty bed after a full nights sleep and to my surprise there they were fast asleep in their bed.'

'As happy as I am that this is the next phase and they're loving it (especially thanks to their amazing bed). I can't help but feel a little sad that that's probably the first day of the rest of my child free bed time life.'

Other mums took to the comments to share their own experiences of sharing a bed with their little ones.

'I love that you tell the truth and show the reality of being a mum, thank you!' commended one fan. 'We let our boys into our bed and I love it, everyone still gets a good sleep but as soon as that changes I think it will be time, like you have, to get them to sleep all night in their own beds. But in the mean time, I'm going to enjoy the cuddles and warmth of knowing my boys are with me.'

Another agreed: 'my 9 yo daughter goes to sleep in her bed then by clock work..she'll get up for a wee then jump in with me then the bloody cat decides to join in but saying that i dont mind having them 2 in with me..its nice to have someone to snuggle up to unless one of them farts near the fan and it blows my way!'
