Stacey Solomon hailed 'an inspirational woman' for joining campaign to end 'period poverty'
More than 137,700 girls have missed school in the last year due to period poverty
Stacey Soloman has shared a school throwback snap on her Instagram as part of a campaign led by Always to end period poverty in schools across the UK.
The Loose Women panellist is loved for her frank opinions and her hilarious honesty, however this week the star is receiving praise from fans for an entirely different reason.
Using her Instagram account with over 865,000 followers as a platform to inspire change and good deeds, the mum-of-two took to social media yesterday to promote a cause which she revealed she is 'passionate about' and 'wanted to speak out about'.
The star has been called her 'an inspiring woman' for her one of her latest photos, a throwback snap from her days at school, uploaded to help raise awareness and bring an end to period poverty.
Stacey posted the picture of her from back at school with a caption that read, 'Always is on a mission to help end period poverty and keep girls in school. Starting today, on International Women's Day, March 8th, Always will be inviting people to join them on a mission to #EndPeriodPoverty by sharing an image of themselves as a school child.
'For every image shared, that tags @Always_UK_Ireland, along with the hashtag #EndPeriodPoverty, Always will donate a pad to schools in need across the country.'
According to statistics, more than 137,700 girls in the UK missed school in the last year due to being too poor to buy sanitary products.

Stacey added: 'No matter how long ago it was, we were all school children once, and even if you haven't experienced period poverty yourself, you can put yourself into the shoes of young school girls who are affected!
'I'm sharing my own #throwback school pic to make a donation. Join the cause!'
Stacey went on to reveal that although she was paid to promote the campaign by brand Always, she is donating her fee to the charity Beauty Banks which helps the poorest people get sanitary products when they are in need.
'I was paid for this post but it's something I'm really passionate about and wanted to speak out about so I'm donating my fee to @the_beauty_banks' the TV presenter said, 'a charity set up to help the poorest people get sanitary products they really need! '
She finished the post by saying: 'Please share love u all 💛.'
With many loyal Instagram followers support for the star soon came flooding in. One person wrote: 'You are the best insta influence 🙌🏼', while another added: 'You really are such an inspirational woman.'
A third said: 'Big love. You are such an awesome human 👏.'
Fellow mum Katie Piper has also joined the campaign and there are sure to be lots of other celebs that follow suit.
Katie's fans also commented on the brilliant campaign and many said they would join the cause to help raise awareness. Singer Alesha Dixon is an ambassador for Always, speaking about the campaign she said: 'The more awareness we can raise about this issue, the more we can help to remove the shame girls feel in talking about it.
'Puberty is a hard enough time to navigate without feeling embarrassed about not being able to afford essential sanitary products and no girl today should experience that.'
