The very special meaning behind Coleen Rooney's new baby's name

Coleen Rooney gave birth to her fourth child with professional footballer Wayne this month, and the proud mum has named her new son after someone very special.

Already mum to sons Kai, seven, Klay, four, and Kit, one, Coleen is reported to have paid tribute to her side of the family with her newborn's name.

Named Cass Mac Rooney, it is thought Coleen wanted to include her family surname, McLoughlin, in some way with her newest arrival to thank her family for all the help they have offered over the years, so her new baby's middle name is a tribute to them.

Coleen and Wayne's marriage has been under the spotlight in recent months as their future as a couple was challenged by numerous rumours and Wayne's drink driving conviction. Coleen's family will have undoubtedly been a huge support for the mum-of-four during this stressful time, and another reason why she was so set on honouring them when naming her new arrival.

A source told The Sun Online, 'She wanted to pay tribute to her family, the McLoughlin's, after all the support they've given her over the years.'

Coleen's mother, Colette, has 'been a rock' for her 31-year-old daughter to lean on, the paper reported.

Coleen first announced the birth of her fourth son on Twitter. She tweeted: 'So Happy to welcome our Baby Boy... Cass Mac Rooney into the world weighing a healthy 8lb 10oz. He is beautiful.'

also took the opportunity to thank her fans for their overwhelming support and the nurses for all their work.

She wrote: 'Thank you all for the lovely well wishes and messages. Really appreciate them. We are all in love with our Baby Cass who is home, healthy and happy. Xx.'

Coleen added, 'Thank you so much @LiverpoolWomens hospital, as it always has been with my other children, you were fantastic again. We are so lucky to have such fantastic and caring doctors, nurses, midwives and staff etc to look after us. I really appreciate all your hard work x.'

She posted an adorable picture of newborn Cass with what looks like older brother Kai, yesterday. Coleen captioned it: 'Morning Kisses 💙😘💙.'

Fans continue to offer their congratulations with one writing: 'So gorgeous. What a loving brother. X.'
