Laura and Jason Kenney reveal the significance of their son Albie's christening date

This weekend saw Olympic cycling stars Laura and Jason Kenny christen their first-born son, Albert Louie Kenny, in a lovely intimate ceremony surrounded by family and friends.

The special day, which Laura revealed by sharing a sweet snap on her official Instagram account, was made even more memorable because of the significance behind the date that the couple chose for the event.

Sharing the news on Instagram, Laura revealed that the couple chose to christen their son on September 24th – the date of their wedding anniversary.

The cycling superstars married on 24th September 2016 in a private ceremony in Cheshire. The couple only revealed they had officially wed the day after their secret ceremony, to which only 63 guests were invited.

Now, a year after the happy occasion, the couple have christened their son Albert – known affectionately as 'Albie'. Taking to social media, Laura wrote, 'One year on .. Happy Anniversary to my wonderful Husband and the best daddy to our little boy. Celebrated it with all our friends and family again by getting Albert Louie christened.'

Fans were quick to congratulate the couple, which some wondering whether the couple had followed another sweet wedding/christening tradition by using part of Laura's wedding dress to make Albie's christening gown.

'Did you use your dress for his gown? Happy Christening day Albert Louie,' wrote one fan on Instagram.

'Congratulations and Happy Anniversary to you both here Laura and Jason! What a lovely way to share it by having Albert Louie christened too!' another exclaimed, while a third added: 'Happy Anniversary and Happy Christening, how lovely to share such a special date x'

The couple have shared very few photos of their son since his birth, choosing instead to remain fairly private and keep him out of the spotlight. The photo from his christening shared by Laura is only the second photograph of Albert that has been shared by the couple.
