Rebekah and Jamie Vardy reveal details of 'horrific birth' of their baby boy
'I was in bits'
Rebekah and Jamie Vardy have announced the birth of their baby boy - but unfortunately their birth plan didn't go entirely as they would have hoped.
The couple have opened up in an exclusive interview with OK! magazine about the 'horrific' details behind the birth of their newborn son.
The couple welcomed their baby boy on the 8th of January, two weeks ahead of his due date, and have named him Finley Jaiden.
But despite being thrilled with their bundle of joy Rebekah revealed the mag that his arrival was anything but straightforward, explaining that because the baby's head was so low it caused a plug round her cervix - meaning that her waters couldn't break and her cervix wasn't able to dilate.
The new mum said: 'The pain of labour was so intense, I was in agony/'
'I nearly broke Jamie's fingers. [The midwife] broke my waters without a consultant in the end because of the pain I was in, the level of my contractions and how long they were lasting.'
'She came in with what looked like long knitting needles and gave me another internal and I was in bits. I was just like, ‘I can’t do this.’

'She broke my waters at 8.30pm and a tiny trickle came out and the pain trebled. Finley shot out 20 minutes later and I couldn't stop shaking from the shock. When your waters break, your contractions increase and intensify because everything is proceeding quickly for you to dilate and deliver.'
'The midwife said to me: ‘Get ready for when he delivers because there will be a lot go water behind him".'
Jamie added: 'The worst moment was the amount of blood and water which came out after Finley. It was not a pretty sight, it was like Niagara Falls. It went all over the walls – luckily, not over me!'
'You don't usually see any emotion from Jamie,' Rebekah said. 'It was all the raw emotion of what we’d been through and him seeing how much pain I was in.'
Even after the difficult labour, the worst wasn't over, with baby Finley suffering from dropped sugar levels and jaundice.
Rebekah said: 'It was horrifying seeing them wheel this incubator into the room and knowing that Finley had to go in it with a mask over his eyes.'
'The only time I could get him out was to feed. I was in for another two days and then they let me out on ward release again.'
Earlier this month, Leicester City and England footballer Jamie took to Twitter to announce the happy news, writing: 'Over the moon to announce the arrival of our gorgeous little boy on Sunday evening! Mummy and baby doing great! 💙@RebekahVardy #blessed 💙'
Their new baby joins Rebekah's two children, Megan, 11, and Taylor, six, from previous relationships, and Jamie's six-year-old daughter Ella with his ex, as well as the couple's daughter Sofia, who is almost two.
Rebekah and Jamie had already found of the gender of their child and knew that they were expecting a boy, telling HELLO magazine in December 2016 that it was 'the biggest secret' they'd ever had to keep.
'I'm so glad it's finally out,' Rebekah said to the mag. 'Megs had a face on because she wanted another sister, but I said to her, "You've already got one sister so this boy will even things out".'
'Taylor wanted a brother, so when we got home, he was like, "What is it?!" He saw the blue cake and he was like, "Oh my goodness, it's a boy!"'
'He was winding Megs up, it was so funny. The first Vardy boy is a big deal for Jamie – it’s his first little boy.'
'He’ll have a lot to live up to. I think Jamie secretly hoped for a boy, but ultimately we just want a healthy baby.'
The pair revealed that they were expecting another child together back in 2016, just two months after they tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in Peckforton Castle in May.
The pregnancy was confirmed by a spokesperson for the couple, who said: 'I am delighted to confirm that Becky is expecting her and Jamie's second child together.'
