Olivia Wilde slammed by fans for kissing her son 'like her husband' in Instagram snap

Actress Olivia Wilde, 33, has caused quite a stir after sharing a snap of her kissing her three-year-old son, Otis, on the lips.

The mum-of-two shared the candid shot of little Otis in the bath on her Instagram page with her 2.3m followers.

captioned the post simply, writing: 'Finding hope in this ❤,' and the black and white picture quickly garnered over 112k likes and over 580 comments.

But some fans have taken offence over it, with one even going as far as to tell the actress that she's kissing her son 'like her husband'.

'Kissing your kid like your husband,' one observed. 'It's not good for him.'

Another said it was 'adorable', before posing the question: 'Would it be still appropriate if the genders were switched? Just curious' - to which another quickly responded: 'Wait, what? Why would a parent kissing their child (of any gender) be inappropriate to anyone???'

'Yeah but it's gross. That's how kids get lip herpes. From adult lip kisses,' argued another.

However, the House star - who is also mum to daughter Daisy, who turns one next month - received some praise over the image too.

'That special bond is like none other', one fan posted, while another said: 'Best place ever to find hope/comfort. Enjoy while they're young.'

A third fan clearly loved the snap, writing: 'Absolutely adorable! So wonderful to see such love between mama and child!'

While another fan couldn't help but jab at the trolls with a comment about hugs: '... it's worth noting that hugging is a practice best avoided as well. It's seriously inappropriate because there are boobs... If you'd like your kids to be well adjusted and emotionally healthy, it's best to say goodnight with a hearty, solid handshake.'

Olivia Wilde isn't the first celeb mum to be on the receiving end of criticism for kissing their child on the lips.

Back in July 2016, Victoria Beckham received backlash after posting a snap of her and daughter Harper sharing a kiss on the lips.
