Mum shares revealing C-section selfie to show that they're not the 'easy way out'
'Try having a 6 inch gash in your abdomen like a gutted shark!'
One mum has hit back at critics who say that having a C-Section
is the easy way out by posting a no-holds-barred picture of her post-surgery body just hours after giving birth.
Melbourne-based blogger Olivia White, who posts under the name House of White, has never been shy about broadcasting the less glamorous parts of pregnancy and motherhood, and her latest candid post is no exception.
Alongside the image, taken from below her tummy with the scar and surgery tape front and centre of the shot, she wrote:
'Look I know it might not be my best angle (or is it?), but who wouldn't take selfies hours post birth so they can see where they sliced you open and yanked out a whole person (if you couldn't tell I still couldn't see past my still inflated uterus)?'
Already mum to three-year-old Annabelle, the picture was a throwback snap to when Olivia had just given birth to second daughter Theodora, and she used it as an opportunity to share the truth about what going through a C-section really entails.
'To anyone who thinks it's the easy way out, we'll try having a 6 inch gash in your abdomen like a gutted shark who had the body parts of the surfer it ate retrieved!' she continued.

'That's then sewn back together with fishing wire while it feels like your vital organs are trying to escape!'
'... worst of all you'll feel as if you'll spend your entire life wearing nanna knickers up around your waist because the thought of anything settling in the canyon between your gut and pubic region is the stuff nightmares are made of!'
Commenters eager to dispel the myth that C-Sections are easier than natural births rushed to thanks Olivia for her honesty, and congratulate her on the safe arrival of her child.
'Hahah even though the memories suck I know you will agree it's worth it, u just hate it when people say yeah I think I might have a c section it will be easier, ummmmmm[sic] just shut up!' agreed one commenter.
'This is the most perfectly, brutally honest, well written piece of reality I have read in a while. Love that you could paint the picture so clearly for the oblivious. Love it. Congratulations on the safe delivery of your baby,' wrote another.
Olivia concluded her message with the resounding claim that she 'wouldn't change' her method of delivery: 'Because if it wasn't for the ability to deliver my babies this way they might not be here today.'
