Hairdresser Nicky Clarke and girlfriend Kelly Simpkin welcome their first child together

Hairdresser Nicky Clarke and long time girlfriend Kelly Simpkin have announced they've welcomed their first child together.

The 59-year-old confirmed the lovely baby news on behalf of the couple, four months after they first made their pregnancy public.

Speaking to HELLO! magazine, Nicky revealed the couple welcomed a healthy baby boy, but the two haven't said which baby name they've picked for their first child together.

'We've had a baby boy weighing a healthy 8lb 5oz', Nicky told the publication, before praising his partner. 'Kelly was amazing.'

Nicky and Kelly announced they were expecting a baby together in March of this year. Their son is Kelly's first child, but Nicky already has two children from a previous marriage - Harrison, 30, and Tellisa, 28.

Speaking about the addition to their family when they first announced their pregnancy, Kelly gushed about Nicky, saying he would be a cool dad.

'It doesn't seem real', she said. 'We're very happy. Nicky will be a cool dad. He's so thoughtful.'

Stylist Kelly, who's very fashionable herself, also said the two were excited to start shopping for baby outfits, so although they haven't yet shared a pic, we know their offspring will be a very stylish child!

'He's into his fashion,' Kelly said of Nicky. 'I can't wait for us to start buying baby outfits.'

The dad, who's had experience of bringing up his first two children, jokingly said that it's been a while since he's done it.

'It was a long time ago', he told HELLO! magazine at the time, before disclosing what he's like as a father.

'I'm quite laid back. Obviously, a routine is important but we always took my kids to, say, restaurants,' he said. 'We didn't let a routine spoil our family life.'

Nicky and Kelly, who've been together for nine years, have yet to tie the knot, but wedding bells seem to be on the horizon for the new parents.

The hairdresser gifted Kelly with a very impressive Stephen Webster diamond and rose gold ring, but the two don't like the word 'fiancé'.

Nicky said: 'I don't like it all. We don't want to make a thing of it, and for everyone to ask us whether we've set a date.'
