Natasha Bedingfield opens up about 'super hard' pregnancy and struggles after childbirth

The singer welcomed a baby boy in last week

Natasha Bedingfield has revealed that she found being pregnant 'super hard' and that the first few days after the birth were so 'intense' she felt quite emotional.

The singer posted a black-and-white photo of herself and her son to Instagram and explained in the caption that while she 'still can't believe this little soul was inside [her] all that time', she now 'can't imagine what it was like before him'.

She added: 'Truthfully I found pregnancy itself super hard. Was feeling pretty sick most of the time.

'Also healing up from childbirth is very intense and adjusting to his rhythms is an emotional roller coaster. At the same time as being still in pain from the birth and tired, I am too excited to sleep.

'Learning to meet all the needs of a new person and trying to balance that with my own needs is tough and have found my self in tears a few times over the last 11 days.'

The mum-of-one described how 'trying to practice the principles of yoga – to take each challenge a breath at a time’ has really helped her as she adjusts to life as a mother.

Fans of the singer were quick to praise her for her honesty, and reassured her what she's feeling as a new mum is very normal.

'It is totally normal what you are going through. You sharing it makes it easier for other new moms. I won't say enjoy, so you won't feel 'wrong'. Just go step by step and let other's help you with the stuff around. Take your time!', commented one mum.

'Just one day at a time. Thank you for being honest I'm sure your truth will help other Moms experiencing the same emotions', said another.

Natasha announced the arrival of her little boy on New Year's Day.

News that she expecting her first child came in October, and she revealed a month later that she was going to have a baby boy in a music video for her song, aptly called 'Hey Boy'.

Natasha and her husband Matthew, an American film writer and director, have been married since 2009.
