Mum shares candid video of the sign that your baby is struggling to breathe

'The sucking in under her throat & her ribs means she's working really hard to breathe'

A mum has posted a video of her baby struggling to breathe to highlight the symptom to other parents.

Sophie Cachia, who blogs under the name The Young Mummy, shared the short clip on her Instagram account, explaining to her 233k followers that she and husband Jaryd had noticed that their daughter Florence was finding it hard to draw breath.

'After being taken in an ambo on our second night and told to come back to the hospital anytime we weren't sure, this is what we took her back for on our last night,' she wrote.

Although she admitted that neither of them were trained professionals, Sophia added that her elder son Bobby had been hospitalized multiple times with asthma attacks, and so their awareness of signs like this is heightened.

'The sucking in under her throat & her ribs means she's working really hard to breathe. We used prior knowledge & listened to our gut and Jaryd took her in just before bed time.'

'Lucky, because the poor thing spent the night hooked up to oxygen. I only took this video just before they left in case she got to the hospital and was breathing fine, I always prefer to have something to show them upon arrival.'

In an update, Sophia assured her fanbase that Florence is now doing well, and 'loving being back in her own bed,' and many have rushed to send her messages of support and thank her for sharing such a scary moment to raise awareness.

'Well done this is exactly what to look for!' one exclaimed. 'I myself am a nurse and a mumma of asthmatic bubbas and have unfortunately seen this a few times myself it's absolutely horrible but awsome work for recognizing it quickly!!'

'Thank you for sharing this and making us all aware of the signs,' a second agreed. 'So glad Flossy is doing better now ❤️'.
