'Rooms can be as dangerous as a hot car' Mum issues terrifying warning after finding her daughter unconscious from heatstroke
She hadn't even been out in the sun
A mum has issued a warning after her young daughter suffered from severe heatstroke and had to be treated by medics – despite not being out in the sun.
Jesnnifer Abma took to Facebook to share the harrowing ordeal, writing that she'd had 'the scariest moment I've had to imagine'.
Her daughter Anastasia had taken herself off for a nap in her bedroom, but it wasn't until Jessica went to check on her 20 minutes later that she noticed something was seriously wrong.

'Anastasia put herself for a nap,' she said. 'I had no idea how hot her bedroom was until I went to wake her up soaked in sweat, red face, boiling and unable to wake her for 15 minutes.'
'It took us 20 minutes to wake her up, when [the] ambulance came, they came with investigators because they didn't know what to expect.'
Jennifer explains that she hadn't realised her daughter was suffering from heatstroke, as she hadn't been outside in direct sunlight.

'There is nothing scarier than not being able to wake your baby up. THIS is clear proof a child doesn't need to be in the sun to get heat stroke.'
She goes on to say that she finds it hard not to blame herself, even though she couldn't have known that heatstroke would affect her daughter in doors. Now she wants other parents to know the risks.
'No it is not my fault this happened to her but it is hard not to blame yourself, this is a lesson learnt & hopefully other parents can take something from this & make sure you are checking the rooms in your house because thy can be as dangerous as a hot car.'

'Still I'm shook and I can't imagine what would have happened if I didn't go check on her.'
The post has been shared nearly 50,000 times and dozens have commented thanking Jennifer for sharing her experience.
'Omg I'm so glad she's okay. Thanks for posting this. I'm definitely sharing this. People need to be aware,' said one commenter.
Another wrote: 'Wow that's crazy Hun!! My daughters room gets super hot at night too and she still insists on sleeping in pjs. I'm definitely going to be much more careful, thanks for sharing this!'
