Kourtney Kardashian shocks fans with photo of four-year-old daughter wearing lip ring

Kourtney Kardashian has shocked fans with her latest Instagram post which shows her four-year-old daughter wearing a lip ring accessory.

The mum-of-three took to the social media site to share a photo of her and her little one snuggled up in bed.

Referencing the Oscars, Kourtney explained that instead of attending the glamorous event she had decided to spend some time with her children at home.

But despite being a sweet picture, her daughter Penelope's new accessory divided fans, attracting some negative attention.

Pictured in bed, with her hair in a messy bun, the reality TV star is sat next to her four year old who appears to be sleeping beside her. However, on closer inspection fans spotted that Penelope is wearing a lip ring accessory.

Kourtney captioned the image, 'Our Oscar Sunday. Yes, that's a lip ring. Thanks @kimkardashian.'

Fans immediately showed concern about the accessory, suggesting that it wasn't appropriate for such a young child.

One Instagram user commented on Penelope's age, simply saying, 'She is 4 😪' while another agreed, 'why would you put that on a child?', as did a third, 'A child shouldn't have that. Period.'.

Some followers pointed out that this behaviour is more reminiscent of teenagers than toddlers, saying 'Nooooooo our kids should still be kids not teens'.

Another remarked on how when they were a child, even wearing nail varnish was considered too grown up, 'when I was her age I wasn't even allowed to wear nail polish'.

Contrastingly, some followers thought that the lip ring was a harmless form of dressing up. One commented saying, 'too cute! dressing up is every little girls dream!' whilst another said, 'Beautiful picture of you both'.
