Katie's mum, who is 64 years old, was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. The condition is one that sadly no-one can cure, and Katie has struggled to come to terms with the devastating fact that she faces losing her mum.
Just weeks ago the mum-of-five broke down whilst discussing her mum's heartbreaking condition live on Loose Women.
'My mum is getting worse. My mum had a cough for five years and thought it was asthma. How can my mum die? It might be my last Christmas with her,' she said.
Now a source has revealed that Katie is preparing to make this Christmas the 'best ever' for her family in honour of her mum.
'Katie wants to make this the best Christmas ever - she keeps saying it could be her mum's last one, so no detail is too small for her,' a source told The Sun.

'She's gone all out and has bought loads of new decorations and there are four trees in the house.'
Katie has been sharing photos of the great lengths she has gone to, decorating her house so it looks festive and magical. Posting a picture of one her trees on Instagram she wrote: 'It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.'
No expense has been spared on Christmas preparations in Katie Price's home this month, with the insider close to the family estimating that the Loose Women panellist could have spent as much as thousands of pounds on decorations.
'She's easily spent over £2,000 on festive decorations - she loves glittery gold and silver, and the house is covered in lights,' the source divulged to the newspaper. 'It's like a winter wonderland in her house.'
