Hollyoaks star Jennifer Metcalfe reveals the name of her baby boy

It's definitely unique!

Hollyoaks actress Jennifer Metcalfe has revealed the name of her baby son.

Jennifer, who plays Mercedes McQueen in the Channel 4 soap, confirmed to OK! magazine that she and partner Greg Lake had chosen to call their little boy Daye Colmic Lake.

'My dad was called Colin and Greg's dad is Mick,' she explained to the title of his unusual moniker. 'Greg quite likes having the dads' names carry on and I'm not a fan of more than one middle name. I wanted something original.'

Jennifer announced that she had become the proud mother to a healthy baby boy in June, with a representative confirming to MailOnline that 'Mother and baby are doing fine.'

'We are delighted to announce that our client Jennifer Metcalfe and partner Greg Lake have welcome a baby boy into the world yesterday,' the statement from the spokesperson read.

Jennifer first revealed that she was pregnant back in February, and said at the time that she was 'over the moon' to be becoming a mum.

'We were very, very excited,' she admitted during an interview with OK! magazine. 'The timing couldn't have been more perfect, really.'

The soap star added that the couple had decided not to find out the sex of their baby, explaining: 'I feel like I'm the one who's got to go through labour, so if I've got a little surprise at the end, it might get me through however many hours it's going to be!'

Greg, meanwhile, may have had an even bigger surprise in the delivery room, as he'd predicted that the baby was a girl.

'I dreamt it. A little girl ran to me,' he told the mag.

Their newborn son is the first child for both Jennifer and former Geordie Shore star Greg, who reportedly began dating in 2012.

Last month, Jennifer told reporters that the pair had only just moved in together, after living as a long-distance couple for the last few years.

'We never lived together before because of work,' she said. 'His business is in Newcastle and I'm in Liverpool filming for Hollyoaks so we don't get to spend much time together.

'But I am so excited to live with him. We are just like best mates.'
