Aunt tries to SUE her 12-year-old nephew after he broke her wrist when greeting her at his birthday party
She said the then eight-year-old was 'very loving' and 'sensitive' towards her, but 'should be held accountable for his behaviour'.
A 55-year-old woman is suing her 12-year-old nephew after he accidentally broke her arm at his eighth birthday party.
Jennifer Connell, from New York, is asking for $127,000 in compensation from the boy, Sean Tarala, after he greeted her forcefully at the celebration, injuring her limb and causing her ongoing pain for the last four years.
She recalls that on the day he was excited to see her, shouting 'Auntie Jen, Auntie Jen'.
'All of a sudden he was there in the air, I had to catch him and we tumbled on to the ground, I remember him shouting, "Auntie Jen I love you," and there he was flying at me,' she explained in her testimony.
Jennifer, a human resources manager, added that whilst she didn't mention the injury at the time because she didn't want to disrupt the celebrations, the damage caused has had a significant impact on her day-to-day life.
'I live in Manhattan in a third-floor walk-up so it has been very difficult. And we all know how crowded it is in Manhattan. I was at a party recently, and it was difficult to hold my hors d’oeuvre plate,' she detailed.
She said that she loved her nephew, but felt he should be held 'accountable for his actions'.

Reports state that Sean, the sole defendant in the case, looked 'confused' as he sat in the court with his father Michael. His mother sadly passed away last year.
However, despite Jennifer's claims that his actions had been 'unreasonable', the case was quickly thrown out of court, with the aunt receiving a total of $0 from the child.
One juror told the Connecticut Post, 'We just didn't think the boy was negligent.'
What's your take - were Sean's actions unreasonable, or were the jury right to throw out the case? Leave us a comment and let us know your thoughts!
