Tom Fletcher shares relatable post as he opens up about parenting and working
Tom Fletcher has opened up about parenting in a relatable social media post.
The McFly band member took to Instagram to reveal an intimate photo of the house he and wife of six years Giovanna Fletcher, who welcomed their third child last year, share with their sons.
Exposing the family’s messy living room and kitchen, the dad-of-three posted an image that shows him worn out and sleeping on the sofa alongside one of his little ones.
‘I hit a wall today,’ he captioned the photo. ‘This is not a rant. I’m so lucky to have a job I love but, as awesome as it is, it takes all I’ve got.
‘I often “work” when the kids sleep as it’s the only time to get it done,’ he continued, ‘but the consistent 5am starts from this dude napping on the sofa with me are taking their toll.
‘Among other things I’m currently editing one novel and midway through the first draft on another, picture book edits are flying in and I’ve got three musicals ticking around the head...the moment @mrsgifletcher got home from work today my brain needed a momentary shutdown and it appears she didn’t miss the photo op. #Repost@mrsgifletcher’
The image was a repost of a post that Giovanna had put up, with the caption: ‘Just got home... looks like these two have had fun! ❤ xxx’.

Fans praised the singer-songwriter and author for opening up about the struggles of balancing parent and work life.
‘@tomfletcher so nice to see you keeping it real and not trying to be perfect,’ wrote one Instagram user. ‘This is real life (except I just have to deal with a tiny business and a house so god knows how you Do everything else!!) But so refreshing to see, from another 5am clubber (that’s getting up not getting in)’.
‘I love this post as it makes us all the same,’ added another, ‘I can often be found on the sofa unintentionally asleep after a tough day.
‘It’s hard being a working parent whatever your job. Keep up the great work we love your books here x’
Another wrote a message of support towards the musician’s work, commenting: ‘You don’t have to put work in quotes. What you do *is* work.
‘Sometimes working in the arts, like working a well paid job in any field, can make you wealthier and more privileged than most. But you’re still a human being. You don’t have unlimited time nor energy.
‘Everyone gets stressed and exhausted sometimes, especially when they have an incredibly busy schedule like you do as well as balancing that with taking care of your kids. It’s ok to acknowledge that. You do work hard and deserve time to recharge. Please take care of yourself. ❤’
