Pretty Little Liars’ Shay Mitchell announces she’s expecting first child with partner Matt Babel after miscarriage
Shay Mitchell, who starred in popular TV shows like Pretty Little Liars and Netflix’s recent success You, has announced that she is expecting her first child with her partner Matt Babel.
The actress made the lovely announcement on social media, as she shared a picture of herself from a photo shoot, where her beautiful blossoming bump is visible.
Alongside the picture, the expectant mum jokingly wrote: ‘Does this mean I’m allowed to drive in the car pool lanes at all times now?’ This will be the pair’s first child, two years after they were first romantically linked.
Shay also shared a video on YouTube with the announcement, and wrote in the caption: ‘There is something in the oven and it’s not my pizza!!! WOW … It’s kind of surreal processing the fact that another human is growing inside of you.’
She goes on to say that she tried to hide her exciting news for as long as possible, but is now excited to share the news.
'It’s exciting, nerve-racking, difficult and emotional all at the same time. Everyone waits for the right time to make the announcement and for me it wasn’t until I couldn’t hide it anymore and was tired of wearing over sized sweatshirts’, she said.
‘This is going to be really fun and awesome when I don't try to hide it anymore,' she said. 'I didn't want to come out on social media so early on,' she said. 'I am going to be so happy when this comes out, I can be pregnant.'

The lovely baby news comes just a few months after she sadly revealed she had a miscarriage last year.
Alongside a picture of a sonogram with a broken heart emoji, she wrote back in January: 'Having so many people follow me on Instagram and read my posts is both incredibly humbling and hugely uplifting.
'The support and affection that so many of you show me lifts me up during even my darkest days, one of which happened last year after I miscarried and lost the child of my hopes and dreams.'
'In the spirit of the new year, I think that we need to remember that we are all on this journey together -- in good times and in bad -- and to remind ourselves that we seldom really know or understand the struggles and hardships that other people are going through.’
Congratulations to Shay and Matt!
