Mum of triplets praised after sharing pictures of her post-baby body
A mum has been praised for photographing her post-baby body shortly after giving birth to triplets.
The mum-of-four, who like these other mums has shared her post partum body on Instagram, posted the image of her post-pregnancy tummy only one week after giving birth to three babies.
Taken at the hospital where she gave birth to her two baby daughters and one new son, the photo shows her ‘hanging belly’ and is accompanied with the hashtag #postpartumbody.
‘I now have a really weird looking hanging belly, which is still quite heavy,’ wrote the new mum, Maria, in her caption.
‘My uterus has not shrinked back yet. Because my belly was so stretched it takes longer than usual. I’m gonna get a belly band/support binder asap, because it’s quite annoying and the sagging makes my c-section scar hurts. I’m really impatient to get my body back!’
Based in Copenhagen with her family, the Norwegian mum, who documented her pregnancy through photos on her Instagram page, followed this up with another post-baby bump picture three weeks later.
Posted only four weeks after she gave birth to her baby triplets, the image looks at how her body has progressed in the three weeks since the previous photo.

‘4 weeks after the birth of my triplets,’ wrote Maria.
‘I still have a weird looking hanging belly, and I am a bit surprised it has not gotten smaller since my last picture three weeks ago. Kind of disappointing I must admit, and I am not too happy to share this picture.
‘On the positive side the c-section scar doesn’t hurt anymore, and in the last two days I’ve almost felt like myself again! Except for this heavy sagging belly that is.
‘I’ve been waiting for some belly bands that were shipped from the US several weeks ago, and they will finally arrive tomorrow. Can’t wait to try them on and see if they have any effect!’
With more than 25,000 likes the post seemed to make an impact with Instagram users. Over 1000 people commented praising the mum and giving her extra advice on how to return to the body that she wants.
‘Don’t be too disappointed,’ wrote one user, ‘that sagging belly housed/protected/ and gave life to your 3 beautiful little babes!’
Another commented on how the mum’s transparency had helped her deal with how your body changes after pregnancy: ‘I really appreciate you sharing this. I had my first daughter naturally, then c-section with my second. I had no idea it would take so long for my stomach to “bounce back” after a c-section. My daughter is almost 6 months and I have been feeling so defeated.’
While others gave advice, writing: ‘It is necessary to lie more on a stomach. Has helped me! And the uterus decreases quicker’ and ‘You have to use a waist trainer. I used one after I gave birth and my stomach went down in a matter of a week or two.’
And some were just in awe of the new mum, writing: ‘You look beautiful. Don't be hard on yourself’ and ‘Maria you are an amazing woman’.
