Mum praised after giving 'perfect' response to people who think she's 'too old' to breastfeed
A mum has received praise after sharing her 'perfect' response to people who think there's an age limit for breastfeeding.
The mum, who says she's been consecutively breastfeeding for six years, shared her story on the Facebook page Mama's Word.
She explained how she was at the doctor's when she overheard two women saying 42 is too old to breastfeed, and that her milk was probably 'not good enough'.
The mum wrote: 'After 6 consecutive years of Breastfeeding my children, I though NO comments could ever SHOCK me any more on the topic. And yet someone managed to do just that, SHOCK me with some uneducated opinion about a breastfeeding mother.

'I was at a doctor's appointment when I overheard this conversation between the two ladies sitting next to me... I am sure you are all familiar with the " too old to breastfeed" remark, BUT have you ever heard it in relation to the MOTHER???
'That's right, these two ladies were going on about how a woman they knew, who is 42 years old, was, in their opinion, too OLD to breastfeed!! And how her milk is probably not GOOD enough because of her age, to the disadvantage of the baby. A baby who they though would have been better off formula fed instead.'

The mum goes on to say she was 'fuming' at their remarks, but that at that exact moment her three-year-old daughter – who she’s currently breastfeeding – comes up to her for a feed.
'I kid you NOT, a few minutes later my daughter climbs on my lap wanting the boob ( talk about right timing), and needless to say, I granted her wish immediately', she wrote.
The mum was surprised when she heard the comments about breastfeeding at an older age
'NOW, I am not one that looks for confrontations or arguments, but I COULDN'T RESIST: obviously the ladies noticed I was breastfeeding (wasn't hiding), I turn to them and I tell them: "By the way, I am 44 years old, 45 next June and my milk is perfect!"
'The look on their face, priceless.'
The mum's post got praise for others who also reveal they have breastfed or still do well into their forties.
One said: 'I'm currently nursing my 3yo and I'm 40. I don't plan on having any more (though I didn't plan any of my current children), but if I do I wouldn't hesitate to breastfeed for as long as my child wanted to, wherever that kid wanted to. Rock on momma!’
Another wrote: 'I am having my 9th baby in June and turn 39 in August. So I will be about 42 at the least when I stop breastfeeding my baby. To each their own. Too bad people can't mind their own business.'
