Lisa Riley reveals she is turning to IVF to have a baby after falling in love ‘for the first time’
Lisa Riley has revealed plans to undergo IVF treatment in a bid to become a mum – despite previously claiming she did not see children in her future.
The former Emmerdale star has had a change of heart after falling in love ‘for the first time’ with her boyfriend, Al.
'I've decided not to live in fear. I want to have IVF but I'm not going to put myself through a lot of stress if it doesn't work,' the 41-year-old told You Magazine.
'There are a lot of reasons why I want to have a baby: some to do with the fact I've saved myself by losing weight, but also that I'm in love for the first time in my life and he would like to have a baby if we can.’
She added: 'I don't just think about myself any more. If we were to have a child, that would be wonderful.'
But the actress admitted that she feared undergoing surgery to remove excess skin, following her dramatic weight loss from a size 28 to a size 12, could hinder her chances at becoming a mum.
She said: 'When I went in to have surgery to remove the loose flesh after I lost all my weight, the first thing that came into my head was, “Can I still have kids after surgery?”

'I was worried that because my skin had been cut it would no longer stretch.'
Lisa previously rejected the idea of having children of her own after her beloved mum, Cath, died of cancer in 2012.
She admitted that she feared leaving her child without a mother should she too become a victim of the disease like her own mum and both her grandmothers.
But during a stint on Loose Women last August, she hinted that she may be ready to embrace motherhood.
She said at the time: 'I've always said because of my mum and the cancer gene, I was very reluctant to have a child.
'But like you [Linda Robson] said, you might not have met the right person well I'm really lucky that over the last three years, I feel that I have met the right person and the person who I would want to be the father of my child.'
