Ikea urgently recall bibs after fears they could be a choking hazard
If you’ve bought a pair of bibs from Ikea recently, they may have been recalled by the store due to a potential choking hazard.
Ikea have issued a recall for the bibs, which are part of the company’s MATRVA range. They come in a set of two; one pink and one blue, with yellow and green spotted lining respectively.
If you want to be absolutely sure they’re the bibs you bought, the product article number is 504.269.20.
Ikea say that the bibs were sold in-stores and online in August of this year. They cost £2.50 and records show that 3,796 of the MATVRÅ bibs were purchased across the UK.
They are now asking parents to not use the bibs, and return them to stores so you can receive a full refund on the products. Proof of purchase isn’t necessary either, as Ikea just want the bibs returned to prevent any incidents.

A statement on their website confirming the recall says: ‘IKEA has received two reports of the button on the bibs coming loose.

‘While no medical treatment was required, the button could have been swallowed presenting a RISK OF CHOKING.' The statement clarified, assuring customers that it was a safety precaution and that no incident had been reported.
‘Customers who own MATVRÅ bibs are informed to STOP using them and return them to an IKEA store for a full refund. Proof of purchase is not required.'
They also provided a number for anyone with questions or concerns, adding: ‘For more information please contact us on 0203 645 0010. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding.’
The company has stressed that this only affects the pink and blue MATVRÅ pack, and not a similar two-pack which features fruit and vegetable designs.
If you, or anyone you know, owns these bibs then make sure they're taken back to your nearest Ikea for a full refund.
