Hilary Duff’s latest Instagram post has been melting hearts all over the internet.
It shows the incredible moment her newborn daughter Banks Violet Bair (who is now five months old) reached out to hug her for the very first time.
In the video, Hilary is cradling Banks in her home birthing pool just after she was born. Adorably, after Hilary kisses her on the forehead, Banks reaches both arms up to give her mummy a cuddle.
Hilary posted the video to celebrate her daughter’s five month birthday. ‘I’ve been wondering for a long time if I would ever share this video as it is extremely personal,’ she wrote. ‘It was so absolutely lovely and rewarding (and shocking) that after giving birth to my baby girl we hugged… for the first time. In my mind I like to believe that she was saying good job mom. Go team go. We did it. Together.’
The awe-inspiring video has already been viewed more than 3 million times – and it’s been bringing Hilary’s Instagram followers to tears. ‘And now I’m crying,’ wrote one. ‘What a stunning video!’
‘This is so beautiful,’ said another person. ‘Thank you for sharing such a special moment. That bond between you and your daughter is so magical.’
Hilary announced Banks’s birth back in October by posting a sweet family photo to Instagram featuring Banks, Hilary and new dad Matthew Koma. Banks is Hilary and Matthew’s first child together, but Hilary also has a seven-year-old son called Luca with her ex-husband Mike Comrie.

Hilary revealed that ‘big brother’ Luca was ‘downstairs deep in legos’ when his baby sister was born, but he’s since been pictured helping out with feeding duties.
According to Hilary, the home birth was a real team effort. ‘Matt provided such a safe calm strength, my mommy and sissy were there to cheer me on, and of course my birth angels to make sure all was well,’ she said.
Hilary’s sister, Haylie Duff, also welcomed her second child last year.
Hilary says that baby Lulu, who arrived in June, is already ‘besties’ with cousin Banks.
