Coronation Street’s Jennie McAlpine has welcomed a baby girl with husband Chris Farr
Coronation Street actress Jennie McAlpine has given birth to a baby girl.
The 34-year-old welcomed her first daughter, named Hilda, with her husband Chris Farr on Monday.
The couple, who married in a secret ceremony at the beginning of last year, are already parents to a three-year-old son, Albert.
Jennie, who is best known for playing the popular character Fiz Brown on the evening soap since 2001, initially kept the happy news private but eventually announced the birth of her baby girl on her Twitter feed on Tuesday evening.
‘Our newest addition arrived yesterday,’ she wrote. ‘Mummy and Daddy very happy. Big brother very proud of his little sister Hilda. We’re all in love’.
This happy news comes just a year after the actress took part in I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here, which is due to return in the coming weeks with new host Holly Willoughby taking over from Ant McPartlin.
The former I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here contestant, who ended up coming fourth in the popular reality show competition, announced her pregnancy in the same way back in April.

She fell pregnant with her restaurant manager husband, who she has been with since 2005, soon after her three-week stint in the Australian jungle.
Throughout her pregnancy, Jennie continued to play her role as Fiz on the ITV Soap and recently talked about the creative ways in which producers were able to hide her growing baby bump before she went on maternity leave.
We started with…perhaps the mug like this,’ she told ITV’s Lorraine while holding a mug up in front of her stomach.
‘And then we went onto a handbag,’ she continued. ‘I kid you not, last week they hid it with a Ford Fiesta’, explaining that producers would move a car to wherever was best on set to cover Jennie’s bump.
Let’s hope Jennie enjoys her maternity leave with her adorable family and their new arrival!
