Coronation Street’s James Burrows and girlfriend Sophie Coates are expecting their first child
Coronation Street actor James Burrows has announced that he's expecting his first baby with girlfriend Sophie Coates.
The actor, who has played doctor Ali Neeson in the popular soap since February this year, revealed the exciting news on his Instagram page.
Accompanied by an image of a hospital scan, the expectant dad wrote in an Instagram post: ‘Me and my beautiful girlfriend @sophie_coates are over the moon to announce that we’re having a baby. We can not contain our excitement we are so so happy x’.
Fans flooded the post with well wishes and messages of congratulations. One said: ‘OMG that’s amazing so happy for you you’re gonna make the best dad ever’.
Another added: ‘CONGRATS GUYS SO HAPPY FOR YOU BOTH’; and a third said: ‘Congrats James I am so happy for you I am sure you will be the best dad your amazing’.
While others gave their congratulations along with comments about James’s work on the daytime TV show: ‘Huge congratulations love watching you on corrie – all the best folks’.
Another fan added: ‘congratulations, but its got to be said, I loved ali in corrie last night, was really hoping he wouldn’t save him. Great actor – my husband knows u, and we have followed u in everything u have been in for years and I find it so amazing your now in my favourite soap – I shout dan all the time, ‘burrows is on’’'.

The on-screen doctor recently said that he was taking a break from the soap and had stopped filming because he had some time off, which he would be using to relax and spend time with his family. But he reassured fans that he would be returning to work to continue filming in December.
