BBC presenter Steph McGovern has revealed she is expecting her first child with her partner.

The newsreader has confirmed the lovely news on social media, after rumours of her pregnancy started swirling around.

She wrote on Twitter: ‘I see my news is out! Yep, I am no longer with pot belly……I am now with child. #babyonboard’.

The 37-year-old will become a parent alongside her girlfriend, whose identity is not known.

Fans, friends and fellow colleagues of the presenter were quick to congratulate the star on her baby joy, with one saying: ‘Congratulations! What a lucky baby to have you as a mum!’

A second wrote: ‘That is amazing news. So exciting. Chuffed to bits. Huge congrats.’

A third added: ‘Congratulations Darling, what a lucky baby to have you as a mother.’

The funny announcement comes a year after Steph was forced to deny pregnancy rumours, because she appeared to have a baby bump on the telly.

She wrote on Twitter in January 2018: ‘For those who are congratulating me on my “pregnancy”. I am not “with child”, I am “with pot belly”.’

Following the tweet, she explained that she was not offended that people thought she was expecting, and denied the rumours because she worried her bosses would take them seriously.

‘After the I’d definitely be in the wrong job if I got offended by comments like that. Even my own auntie asked me once if I was pregnant after seeing me on the telly – that’s just life on camera’, she said at the time.

‘I just decided to tweet a reply about it because I’d had a run of a few celebratory tweets and I wanted to clarify I wasn’t and get in there before my boss started arranging my maternity cover!’
