Fans and friends rushed to congratulate the 42-year-old, joined by a host of well known faces who sent their well-wishes too.
TV host Dermot O’Leary commented ‘Huge congrats Al x’ followed by Channel 4 presenter Zoe Hardman who wrote ‘Yay!! A Kit!! Such a good name – well done you beauty, amazing news xxx’ and BBC presenter Anita Rani who added ‘Congratulations!!’.
Singer and musician Myleene Klass, who is currently expecting her third child, also added ‘Ahhhhhhhhh! Congratulations Mama xxx’
Alex, who recently opened up about her secret miscarriage, even phoned in to yesterday’s episode of The One Show to share the exciting news with her show’s viewers.
‘We are now a family of four,’ she exclaimed down the phone line to fellow presenters Matt Baker and Angela Scanlon.
‘He’s really good,’ she continued. ‘He was born last Monday morning so we’ve had a lovely week, just the four of us getting used to being a family of four – and introducing him to Teddy which has been a dream!’
‘I was really worried about that,’ she continued, ‘but Teddy has taken like a duck to water being a big brother. He’s been fantastic, really gentle with him. and he says ‘love you baby’.
‘He thinks we’re going to call the baby Thomas after Thomas the tank engine,’ added the mum-of-two, ‘so breaking the news that we’re not actually going to call him Thomas is going to be quite tricky!’
Congratulations to the whole family on their new arrival!
