Parenthood star Erika Christensen welcomes her first child
'I'm in labor. Right now.'
When most celebrities go into labour, they try and keep the news as under wraps as possible until their newborn's arrival.
Not actress Erika Christensen, however, as she took the opposite approach on 22nd June by tweeting to her 163,000 followers, 'I'm in labor. Right now.'
The 33-year-old, who is best known for her roles in TV show Parenthood and movies such as Flightplan and Swimfan, didn't made any further social media announcements after that point, but a representative for Erika and her husband Cole Maness confirmed to PEOPLE magazine that they had welcomed a healthy baby girl.
The couple chose a rather unusual unisex baby name for their daughter, opting for the name Shane, a traditionally male Irish form of John, meaning 'God's gracious gift'.
Erika first announced that she was pregnant on Twitter in March 2016, posting a series of pictures of her recently adopted dog and writing, 'This boy is getting a little sister. A human sister. ☺️ She'll make her first appearance tomorrow at #Confirmation.'
And if that hint wasn't enough, she repeated the happy news a day later, adding 'Also, yes... We're expecting! Very excited that our baby girl will be coming soon.'
In April, she told PEOPLE 'It’s still rather surreal. She’s a little kick boxer in there — she’s big and moving and communicating as far as reacting to music that we play and stuff like that.'

Referencing her puppy's starring role in the pregnancy announcement picture, she continued, 'I love the idea of my daughter looking back at her childhood and growing up with a dog. He's definitely smart, so we're hoping he'll get it. He's got plenty of his own toys so we'll make sure he grasps that this is his sister and not a toy.'
Shane is the first child for the pair, who got engaged in November 2014 and married in a romantic outdoor ceremony in September of the following year.
Congratulations on your new arrival, Maness family - we can't wait to see the first picture of baby Shane!
