Ellen DeGeneres pays moving tribute to her dad after he dies at 92
The TV presenter announced his passing on Thursday
Ellen DeGeneres had some very sad news to share on her TV show yesterday.
Looking visibly emotional, the presenter revealed to the audience that her father had passed away earlier a couple of days ago.
'I lost my dad this week. He was 92 years old. He had a good, long life,' she informed the crowd.
'He lived his life exactly how he wanted to. He was very proud of me, he loved this show. He was a very kind and accepting man. There was not one bone of judgement in his body.'
Ellen then said that she's convinced her late dad is the person to thank for her witty demeanour.
'He was very funny, I think my brother and I got our sense of humour from him.'

The 59-year-old continued her tribute on Instagram, sharing more anecdotes and some wonderful photos.
'It wasn't unexpected. I was able to say goodbye. When I was a kid, my dad took us on one vacation to Warner Bros. Studios,' she wrote.
'He loved this business. He loved that I was in it. When he died, I saw this rainbow over the stage they named for me.'
Ellen's moving posts clearly struck a chord, with a number of her 50 million fans on the social networking site.
'I believe, given that the rainbow was sighted by you, right over the place they named after you, after your dad had passed, was a sign to acknowledge the love you held for him and his pride and love for you, too,' one sweetly commented.

Another added: 'You are very lucky to have had such wonderful memories with your father. I love the picture of the rainbow. He must have been smiling down on you.'
