Davina McCall addresses speculation her Christmas Day video about loneliness was a 'cry for help'
The TV star discussed the clip on ITV's This Morning
Davina McCall has addressed speculation that a video she posted to Instagram during Christmas was referencing how she was feeling in the wake of her split.
In the clip in question, Davina - who has 782,000 followers on the social media site - talks directly to the camera.
'I wanted to say Happy Christmas to anyone who is feeling a bit lonely', she said. 'I think it's one of those days where sometimes even if you're in a huge group of people it's quite possible to feel lonely.
'Or if you've lost someone that you really care about and this is your first Christmas without them. Or if you couldn't get home to your family.
'I'm sending everyone a great big Christmassy hug. It's only a day. If you are feeling terrible, curl up with a duvet and make yourself some food as that's a nice act of self love. Go and watch some funny Christmas films.'
But after the clip was misinterpreted as a 'cry for help', the TV star cleared up any misconceptions appearing on ITV's This Morning earlier today.
'I guess naively that I hadn't thought of the assumptions that might be made from that video', she told show hosts Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield.

'People took that as a cry for help as I was on my own.'
The TV star went on to tell the presenting duo that she actually spent the holiday with Matthew Robinson, despite their recent split.
'Matthew and I decided for the kids' sake we'd be all together for Christmas - so I wasn't alone.'
She also revealed that she no longer wishes to discuss her situation publicly.
'Just for the record, I know you Philip, you might want to ask me about it', Davina continued.
'For our kids' sake, Matthew and I have both decided we are never going to talk about us.
'We have three kids who are quite grown up so we don't want to talk but it in the public eye.'
Davina confirmed the pair's decision to end their relationship in November last year.
Davina and Matthew met on the set of comedy sitcom Sam's Game in 2011. The show followed four friends renting flats in a large townhouse in London.
The couple - who tied the knot at Eastnor Castle in Hertfordshire - were married for 17 years before they split.
