Children answer the question 'What does love mean?'

A Tumblr post is going viral after capturing people's attention due to its simple yet heartwarming message.

The post, originally from November 2012, explains how a group of young children were asked 'What does love mean?', and their touching responses were far more insightful than anyone, especially their parents, could have guessed.

Rebecca, eight, said; 'When my grandmother got arthritis, she couldn't bend over and paint her toenails anymore. So my grandfather does it for her all the time, even when his hands got arthritis too. That's love.'

Danny, seven, reflecting on his parent's relationship, said; 'Love is when my mummy makes coffee for my daddy and she takes a sip before giving it to him to make sure the taste is okay.'

And if you didn't already have a lump in your throat after that, just wait till you hear where seven-year-old Bobby finds his love during the festive season.

'Love is what's in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen,' he says.

Elaine, five, added; 'Love is when mummy gives daddy the best piece of chicken', whilst Lauren, four, had a unique take on the hand-me-downs that many children complain about.

'I know my older sister loves me because she gives me all her clothes and has to go out and buy new ones,' she explains.

The next response was perhaps not an image that many wives would rather not associate with love, but Mark, eight, said; 'Love is when mummy sees daddy on the toilet and she doesn't think it is gross.'

However, the winner of most tear jerking, heartstring-pulling anecdote has to go to this four-year-old boy.

Upon seeing his recently-widowed elderly neighbour crying outside his house he went into his garden and sat on his lap.

When his mum asked what he had said to the neighbour, the child said; 'Nothing. I just helped him cry.'
